About the author

Hi, I'm Noemi

I grew up in a small village in Hungary, as the girl who came home with frogs in her hands and stopped for every dragonfly. I painted and drew long before I wrote, studied people and stories at the Faculty of Humanities, and in 2023 I moved to the Netherlands, because staying in one place forever was never going to satisfy my curiosity.

I have a habit I probably should have grown out of a long time ago: I look at perfectly ordinary things and wonder why they are the way they are.

Why do we blow out the candles we just lit? Why the dandelion, out of all the flowers? Why did generations of children agree that a tooth under the pillow is a perfectly reasonable deal? Most of us learn these things so early that we never stop to ask. I do. Constantly.

My stories are not answers. They are possibilities - colorful little "what ifs" about the habits we all carry around without noticing. Some of them are funny, some are a bit sad, and all of them are really about people: growing up, being afraid, loving someone, holding on and letting go.

Because I believe a curious mind keeps ordinary days colorful. If one of my stories makes you smile the next time you make a wish, or makes you pause for a second before you do something "because we always have", then it did exactly what I hoped it would.
